Does ControlG work in every app?
It works in standard editable fields across many apps. Password fields and some custom editors block automated reading or replacement.
Why do Mac and Android need Accessibility access?
Mac uses it to send the copy and paste keystrokes needed for a selected-text rewrite. Android uses it to detect your configured trigger in the active editable field and write the result back. Android ignores password fields.
Do I need an API key?
No. Google sign-in enables the built-in AI. Your own Groq, Gemini, xAI, OpenAI or compatible key is optional.
What syncs between devices?
Action names, prompts, provider choices, models, enabled states and Android triggers sync for signed-in accounts. Desktop hotkeys and API keys stay local.
Does ControlG store my writing?
Ordinary built-in rewrite text is processed transiently and is not retained by ControlG. Android can send the latest generated result only when you explicitly confirm a safety report.
Are Pro rewrites unlimited?
Pro removes the lifetime free-rewrite count and the 1,000-character trial ceiling. Fair-use rate limits still protect the shared built-in service.
