Install once, then write from your usual apps.
- Download the universal DMG and move ControlG to Applications.
- Open ControlG, sign in with Google, and complete the Accessibility setup.
- Select text in a supported field and press Control-G.
- Add actions or change shortcuts from ControlG Settings.
The current Mac build is not notarized. If Gatekeeper blocks the first launch, right-click ControlG in Applications and choose Open. Notarization will be added in a later release.
Why Accessibility is needed
A specific permission for a specific job.
macOS Accessibility permission lets ControlG perform the copy and paste keystrokes required to read your selected text and place the result back into the active field.
The permission does not make every app compatible. Secure fields and applications with custom text systems may block selection or replacement by design.

Is ControlG a native Mac app?
Yes. The universal build supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 12 or later.
Does it work in every Mac application?
It works in many apps that expose a standard editable field. Password fields and some custom editors block automated text access.
Do I need an API key?
No. Google sign-in enables 1,000 built-in AI rewrites. You can optionally connect a supported provider with your own key.
Can I choose a different shortcut?
Yes. Desktop shortcuts are configurable per action and remain local to your Mac.
