The result replaces the selected text in the same field, and ControlG restores your clipboard.

When the draft is already in Outlook, Teams, a browser, a support tool, or a document, moving it into a separate AI tab adds friction. ControlG uses the text you explicitly select and returns the rewrite to that field.
You can keep a small set of actions for common work: fix grammar, make concise, write more formally, translate, summarize, or improve clarity. Each action can have its own global hotkey.

Windows setup
Start from the tray.
- Download the Windows package and extract the zip.
- Run ControlG.exe and complete Google sign-in.
- Select text in a supported application and press Ctrl+G.
- Open Settings from the tray to add actions, shortcuts, or an optional provider.
The current Windows build is not code-signed. Microsoft SmartScreen may show a warning on first launch. Choose More info, then Run anyway only if the file came directly from getcontrolg.com.
Choose the model
Use the included AI or your own key.
Google sign-in enables 1,000 built-in AI rewrites of up to 1,000 characters each. A ControlG Pro licence removes those free-trial count and length limits, subject to fair-use rate limits.
You can also connect Groq, Gemini, xAI, OpenAI, or a compatible endpoint. Bring-your-own-key requests use the provider's pricing, quotas, and data terms.

Which Windows versions are supported?
ControlG supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. The package includes the required runtime.
Does ControlG read everything I type?
No. The desktop workflow is invoked for text you select and a shortcut you press. Password and secure fields should not be used.
Why does a rewrite fail in an administrator app?
Windows restricts interaction across privilege levels. Run ControlG at the same privilege level as the target application.
Can I make my own actions?
Yes. Define the instruction, provider, model, and desktop shortcut for each custom action.
